SHOWCASE

The Luftwaffe’s Mistel Composite Aircraft.
The Mistel concept was made out of a desperate need for a heavy bomber that could take out bridges and sink warships. The solution was to stuff an unmanned bomber (Ju 88) full of high explosives and fix a fighter on top of the bomber.
The fighter was wired to the bomber’s throttles and flight controls. The fighter pilot took the contraption into the air, flew to the target area, pointed the Ju 88 straight at the target, released the bomber, and flew home. The Ju 88 flew into the target on autopilot.
The following shows a Mistel 1 with a Bf 109 F-4 on top of a Ju 88.
More the 250 Mistels were built.
As usual, I was not content with only making the model, I had to put in on a mission and see how it worked!
