Rolls Royce 1911 Airfix 1/32 in ita famous bags. Model that I mounted in the 70s. Colored by brush with Humbrol enamels, one of the few models to have arrived intact to date. some small touch-ups to repair the damage of time. From Arthur Ward’s publication: Celebrating 50 years of the greatest plastic kit in the world ” Airfix has always sought to find examples of originals before attempting to reproduce a miniature scale replica. Indeed, the first Airfix car kit, a replica of a 1911 Rolls Royce in 1/ 32 scale available in 1955, experienced an equally adventurous gestation. Determined that their replica would be 100 per cent accurate, Airfix actually traced a surviving example of the vehicle, and an obliging owner. However, they were told they could proceed on one condition, that their draughtsmen snipped the brass ends off their tape a measures to avoid scratching the Roller. The owner did not want the superlative paint finish of this classic vehicle scratched. So as soon as the Airfix staff returned to Wandsworth, they had to be sure to add a ½ inch to each and every recorded length!”
