First of all. My name is Enrico Schernell. I am 39 Years old. I was 13. I was born in Magdeburg/Germany and live now in Münster/Germany I started with a f16 from revell and build a lot revell modelkits for some time. And then I left the hobby because of puperty. Girls and Partys were more interesting. Then I reentered the hobby 4 years ago with a gunpla kit. It was the RG Unicorn Gundam. After building it my mind was blown and I deep dived in the rabbit hole. The result of this dive is the project you want to show up at your Website. Which makes me realy proud and I realy appreciate it. So let’s go to the kit.
The original kit is called RG MSN-02 ZEONG. It appears at the end of the original series called Mobile Suit Gundam. It’s a 1\144 Scale Modelkit which comes in colored plastic with decals and you dont have to glue it. My first Intention when I first saw the kit Was. Wow so many thrusters. It would be cool to put leds in it. So what have I done. All the parts are primed with tamiya primer Grey and white. The parts that should be in metal like the entire innerframe is painted in gunmetal and light gunmetal. Because the innerframe is highly detailed I painted the details with enamel metal paint Gold and Bronze. I also used tamiya panelline accent color to get even more out and give it a nice mechanical look. The outer armor(everything Red) I primed it with Grey and white then I primed them in one red color. Because of the different primer colors I got variety in the red color. After painting I used water decals from the kit itself and a Mega Size Zaku 2. I pannelined the painted armor again with panelline accent color. After that I topcoated the armor in a flat finish. The same process was with the base for the project but I also masked it. To get some great color combinations. During the build I put 3mm uv leds in it. Why 3mm leds? Because the give the best shine. But they are a pain to install. So before painting the parts I fitted the leds and customised the entire inner structure to get room for wires. I did this with the entire kit and the base. After I build in the leds I connected the thruster leds in parallel so in summary there are 3 different parallel circuits in the kit and 4 parallel circuits in the base. Why So many circuits? Because if one led dies I dont have to dissasemble the entire kit again. After Routing the wires and testing everything I connected them to a Lego Lighting kit controller from a 1989 Lego Batmobile Which I had laying around. I suck at programming so the already installed sequences matched realy well and it’s remote controlled now.
