This 1/700 diorama features WW2 japanese ships : the famous I400 giant submarine (Hobby boss kit), the submarine support ship Heian Maru (Hasagawa), a submarine (Tamiya) and a patrol boat (Tamiya). I started it while we were in lock down in spring 2020. It took me a year or so to complete it (while building other kits). Size is 20X30cm, it’s built on a plywood plank, covered with watercolour thick paper. Greenish shades of paint and many layers of gloss varnish give the “water” effect. Models are painted with Tamiya paint, airbrush and brush. Weathering with Tamiya washes and oil paint. Figures and photoetch details from various brand, including (L’Arsenal, Lion roar, etc).
