The Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle is a full size fiberglass reproduction of an actual specimen. The artificial reef was carved using urethane foam and then sculpted over using Apoxy Sculpt, an artists two part sculpting putty. Lacquer paints were mixed into the foam and epoxy for enhanced color, UV stability and a translucent effect. Details were painted using an Iwata airbrush and Polytranspar airbrush paints.
