Grosjean diorama

inspired by Romain Grosjean’s Formula 1 crash in Bahrain 2020

in this diorama, studying more than 300 photos and reviewing the accident in every frame, I tried to replicate 99% of the details of the accident, capturing the most exciting moment.
The work is in 1/20 scale and lasted approximately 2 years
everything is self-built from pieces of plastic or waste except the characters which I printed in 3D after designing
the most challenging work was the creation of the guardrail which had to take the perfect shape of the impact
while the biggest challenge was the creation of the fire which occupied me with several months of rehearsals before the final realization.
even if not visible, I also wanted to recreate the part of the passenger compartment behind the guardrail; Furthermore, to make everything realistic I replicated every single piece of debris present on the scene.
it was a long job, which required a lot of commitment and dedication but I am happy to have given life to such a strong moment in the history of modern Formula 1: Romain Grosjean, the driver who became a legend.
