Short story
Following the economic growth that occurred in America in the early 1950s, the Ford group realized that it did not have a model that stood between the Ford-branded cars and those of the Mercury luxury car sector. He then designed the prototype E-car later named Edsel in honor of Henry Ford’s son who died in 1943. Advertised as the car of the future following a marketing research on motivations that influenced consumers. The results of all this costly research, however, as John Brooks writes in his book Business Adventures, were not even considered by the project managers. They are not among the public’s favorites, considering Ford to be a brand of cheap budget cars, buyers turned to other traditional brands at the time of purchase, and following the stock market crash of 1957
