“To strive, to seek, to find ,and not to yield “- 54mm The expedition and race of Robert Falcon Scott to the South Pole, is a modelling project I’ve wanted to depict for a longtime. Inspired by a painting of his team ascending the Beardmore glacier in 1911, before the long journey across the plateau, to the south pole. The ascent of the glacier creates a bit of elevation and drama, for a modelling scene. The figures, sledge and scene are scratch-built/sculpted with the addition of hornet heads. The sledge is a recreation based on museum artefacts taken on the expedition, including the skis and other kit. Waiting on the base to fully cure before the painting begins.
