The layout was based on a real seaside town and railway line called Dawlish, so the project/layout was called Dawlish. It was made using 2 base boards. The main board was 8 feet by approx 35 inches and the second smaller board wat 5 feet by approx 18 inches. The layout is in N gauge and took around 6 weeks to build from start to finish. The fine sand I used for the beach area at the front of the layout was real sand taken from a beach near to where I live on the Isle of Arran, Scotland.
